In 2013 I was exploring a theme I called Altered Animalia. It was a chance to refer to reality, which is something I was not doing much of before this. Things were mostly dreamt up and didn’t display many elements that we may recognize in the world around us. In the years prior to 2013 I was focused on a dark story which, of course, reflected in my art. Throughout the years of creating I eventually realized my art was just following my mood and in order to escape sinking further into a more murky space in my physical mood and the feel of my art I forced myself to drastically change these feelings by lightening the mood and brightening the color palette I work with. This was all of 2014. Things were intended to come across more lively and I was to begin using elements we may all recognize. Everything I have ever created, I have enjoyed it much and used it to help me grow. I tend to use the beginning of a year as a marker to recognize where I am and to see if I got to where I was trying to go. 2013 was a boost of happiness and energy - a time to help lift up all of my past art and to also inject all that I do next with those same feelings. 2015 will be filled with reflecting all the low tones of the past and finding the mood in the middle. I'll be posting progress on all paintings here so please check in frequently.
