The Gathering / Kindred

Thanks again to everyone for the support and kind words on my solo, “Foretell”, at Stranger Factory last month. There are a few paintings still available through the Circus Posterus website shop.

I will be in two group shows this month, one at Dragatomi and the other at Bold Hype. The group show The Gathering has an assortment of sculptors and painters creating their own version of Daniel Fleres’ Swanicorn. It opens March 9th at Dragatomi. Here is my customized Swanicorn titled Mirus Limonus:

The other group exhibition will be at Bold Hype in New York, called Kindred. Currated by Nathan Spoor, it’ll feature 12″ x 12″ artworks by a great batch of artists and opens on March 14th. The piece I did for this one is a dimensional wall piece made up of resin, glass and plastics. Shown below is “Cinq”:

“Foretell” at Stranger Factory

Stranger Factory is will play host to three concurrent solo exhibitions by myself, DrilOne, and Leecifer! The opening reception is at Stranger Factory on Friday, February 1st from 6 PM – 9 PM.

My exhibition, Foretell, is based on visions that can’t be seen by living human eyes. The paintings and ideas will portray our planet after we humans no longer live, but only remnants of us exist. I question what will grow from us and around us. New creatures breath life into what we were and grow from what we left. These paintings will offer a glimpse of what’s to come through the foretelling eyes of afterlife.

DrilOne’s exhibition, Empty World, will showcase Dril’s signature style of distress and decay as he tackles his interpretation of a post-apocalyptic landscape. Utilizing his familiar forms of 3D signage, paintings, original sculpts, customized vinyl toys, and other mixed-medium assemblages, DrilOne offers up a glimpse of his view of a world gone dead.

Leecifer’s Long Dogs, presents the artist’s unique vision of the world unnoticed as customized vinyl toys, original sculpts, and paintings. Encountered as seemingly ordinary plants and animals hinting at an impossible intellect or ancient wisdom. Seen from the corner of your eye, a flash of golden scales is revealed to be but a Tabby’s fur; a serpentine shadow solidifies into one from a dachshund, improbable wings on a frog. Sometimes the glimpse becomes the knowing smile of a Boston Bulldog that, in passing, might have had catfish whiskers, or maybe even a turtle with too many heads. Or the sense that, even in times of harshest trial, there is a powerful presence shepherding and guiding you. This is the gift of a long dog. Possible dragons and unrecognized conduits of wonder and magic, hiding in plain sight.

Happy Holidays

Hello,

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that has supported my art this past year. With much appreciation for you I’ve been able to continue to explore and grow as an artist. Throughout the year I’ve been able to share many new ideas and get out there to meet so many great people. I very much look forward to continued growth and to share more thoughts with you in 2013. A huge thank you to everyone that visited my shop every first of the month to offer overwhelming support and encouraging compliments. Though my monthly art shop (the first of) has been successful and provided greatly toward my continuation as an artist, it has cut down the time I’ve been able to focus on bigger ideas. In 2013 I have decided to work a little different and will not be making my art available on a monthly basis on thefirstof.com. I aim to create larger paintings and cohesive bodies of art, working with various galleries while also looking into bigger ideas with the dimensional work as well as various other projects in mind. In the coming year I will most likely make some of my art available through my shop on occasion, but as I do so I will be certain to send you any information in advance.

As the close of the year comes, I want to wish you and all your loved ones a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year.

I am currently focused on a solo exhibition coming up on February 1st at Stranger Factory in Albuquerque, NM. I will be sharing the gallery with the solos of DrilOne and Leecifer. I have titled this show Foretell. The ideas are all based on visions that can’t be seen by living human eyes. The paintings and ideas will portray our planet after we humans no longer live, but only remnants of us exist. I question what will grow from us and around us. New creatures breath life into what we were and grow from what we left. I will offer a glimpse of what’s to come through the foretelling eyes of afterlife.

Back from Designer Con!

Thanks to all those who made it out and showed support! A big thanks to Jeremiah Ketner and N.C. Winters too, it was good to work with you! Already looking forward to next years DCon.

The original collaborative painting “TOTEM” that we created for the event will be available for public purchase, along with very few remaining prints. The original will be available for $1500, and the prints for $50 each. They will be up for grabs on N.C.’s shop at 12PM noon PST this Wednesday, November 7. Please have a visit if you are interested. I still have a few dimensional pieces available (lots of Double Crux) and some paintings. I will post more information once I receive all the goods back from the con, most likely at the end of this week.
